I’ve been meaning to write you for over a year just to say how
incredibly happy we are with the porch you designed for our house, and how nice it was to work with you.

On one hand it’s “just a porch”, but our house looks great with it — way better than it did before. We’ve also noticed that not every porch works this well, especially given that ours was an unusual design (half open / half closed, unusually deep, bolted onto an existing house) which probably had a higher risk of looking weird if someone didn’t know what they were doing.

I can honestly say I didn’t really appreciate the role of a proper architect on a small, seemingly-straightforward project like this, but beyond the technical work, it’s clear now that your aesthetic and functional input (e.g., on how deep is too deep, how to make the half/half design work, how to integrate with the house’s existing style, etc.) was critical.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that every time we look at our house we say to ourselves, “man, Allyson really did an amazing job”, and we’re grateful.
