An intown family reached out to our firm about designing an addition for their home which included significant renovations. After preliminary pricing discussions with two contractors, we developed a scope of work for the family’s vision.
The residences second floor was a converted attic with two separate bathrooms however, it only had two bedrooms and a shared community space. There was no central hallway or en-suite bath for the primary suite meaning, the parents had to walk through the community space to use their bathroom.
The main floor guest bedroom was small and no family room existed. Since both parents occasionally worked from home, extra space was needed. The existing front stoop did not provide an opportunity for sitting outside and the rear deck was failing.
The new scope of work extended the main floor to add a family room, a new screen porch, a new guest suite and large, covered front porch.
The second floor expanded to create two new secondary bedrooms and a more functional primary suite with attached bath.
